Will fiber optic cabling overtake the copper cabling in the next ten years?
Fiber wins hands down on bandwidth.
But there are applications where bandwidth is not important, such as DALI.
Relative cost is a major factor.
Maybe fiber wins for backbone applications. And also for telecom and video and Internet connections to workstations more gradually.
As systems go more IP, I guess fiber makes more sense.
But what about wireless?
